Job Title: Accountant

Location: Hybrid after initial training

Job Description: We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Accountant to join our finance team. The Accountant will be responsible for managing day-to-day accounting tasks, ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial regulations, and providing valuable insights to support strategic decision-making. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to contribute to the success of the Foundation and help create positive impacts in our Northern Nevada communities.

Responsibilities:

Accounting/Finance:

  • Reconcile assigned general ledger accounts and ensure accuracy of financial records
  • Process inter-fund contributions, grants, and financial gifts, including recording contributions, issuing acknowledgments, and maintaining donor databases
  • Process invoices and generate checks for accounts payable and grants, ensuring timely and accurate payments
  • Prepare quarterly fund statements for fund advisors and produce annual 1099s for vendors.
  • Assist with audit preparation and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
  • Monitor and maintain assets ledgers, reconcile programs and activities with external entities, and prepare statutory reports for regulatory bodies

Administration:

  • Perform fund administration tasks, including monitoring and reconciling financial transactions, preparing fund reports, and maintaining accurate records of fund activities
  • Administer non-cash gifts, ensuring proper valuation, recording, and acknowledgment in compliance with regulations and organizational policies
  • Support the CFO with long-term management and transactions related to non-cash and illiquid assets
  • Manage document retention systems, including file organization and storage, to ensure easy retrieval of financial records and related documents
  • Assist with file systems and SharePoint management, maintaining and updating platforms for effective collaboration and document sharing
  • Provide administrative support for the Community Housing Land Trust, assisting with housing projects and community initiatives
  • Generate reports for Donor Relations, maintain data integrity, and produce monthly fundraising and key performance indicator reports
  • Utilize project management tools to oversee and track progress on projects

Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred
    • 5+ years of experience in financial administration, accounting, or related roles. A combination of experience and education may also be considered
    • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office suite
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in financial records
    • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
    • Knowledge of non-profit accounting principles and regulatory requirements
    • Experience with donor databases and fundraising software preferred
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid team environment
